"Pure Joy".....

Recently I have been giving much thought to the idea of vulnerability, dropping guards, taking off masks, no pretense...., basically, just being real. This has been very freeing and has begun to offer some  healing in the deepest part of my soul. I began thinking of this same concept as I took pictures around the house of our everyday life. It's not perfect. In fact, it's downright messy and broken....., but isn't that what the Gospel is all about? Jesus taking broken, messy lives and making something beautiful from our ash heap. As I started snapping pictures, I decided that I would just begin taking pictures in the raw - in our messy house, in the midst of tears, with 4 months worth of fingerprint smudges on windows, on floors that haven't been mopped in 3 months,  in the middle of arguing children, fatigue, in mounds of laundry waiting to be folded, in the "less than perfect" photos, in just our real life.  Most of these pictures do show smiling faces, but don't be fooled. We have plenty of tears in this house too - it's just I am usually in the middle of a discipline issue and can't get to my camera!

Being silly in his sister's costumes!

Yeah, here too!
