This was a recent scene at my house. Both children love music. It is not just "background noise" for them. They both stop, listen, take note, and focus on what they are hearing. Elijah Brooks especially can discern music, or an instrument, or a certain tune from among so much other noise. Everything else fades away when he hears something that peeks his interest muscially - he will stop whatever he is doing to listen. He listens to his music so loud that I was beginning to think something was wrong with his hearing until I realized that it was only his music that was loud - TV was a normal volume, speaking was a normal volume etc...., just his music has to be very loud (my mom said that I did the exact same thing as a child). He doesn't even show a preference for a particular style or genre - he just loves it all and appreciates it all. I am noticing that Ellison is doing the same things he did as an infant when it comes to music. There is an obvious and unmistakeable interest in it. Music is something that they can enjoy their entire lives, even if they do not ever do anything professional with it. It is something that can always be enjoyed and appreciated, and I hope I can help foster that appreciation at their tender ages.

I want front row seats to their first concert. Even if it is in your living room in 2 years. Maybe they can make up fake programs like we used to do. :-)
