"July 4th weekend"

We spent the long holiday weekend with Jay's family in Georgetown, SC where Jay grew up. His house is literally 15 minutes from Pawley's Island, SC and that was the beach where Jay and his sister grew up going to.  Since we have moved to AL, we are unfortunately now 9 hours away from his parents and his sister and her family.  His sister and family are also getting ready to move from SC to South FL to take a position at a church there, so we are really all about to be very spread out...., at least 8-10 hour drives for everyone in the family to get to one another. This weekend was the last weekend for a long time that all of us will be together, so we went to the beach to attempt some family pictures.  The entire family pics are on my mother in-law's camera so I don't have those, but we did manage to capture of few pictures of the kids.  Elijah Brooks was not really going for the photo shoot and hardly smiled in any picture, as he was clearly much more enamored by the ocean looming in the distance and wanting to get down!  We tried to go in the early evening so it wouldn't be so hot, but that made for some pretty bad shadows in some of the pictures. I didn't have time to fool around with the different settings on my camera to figure out what was best for that time of day/shadows etc...., because I was chasing a toddler who has no fear of the water!  Hey, you can't blame a family for trying to capture the moment while we were all together.  We aren't sure when the next chance we will have to do this, and that makes me so sad to think about. We had a wonderful visit though, and certainly made lasting memories.

Beautiful pics, Erin. I am so glad that you had such a great time with Jay's family. Aren't cousins the best? Mine certainly are. :-)
